Unibet was the big winner at the 2014 EGR Awards, taking home three awards including the Innovation in Poker trophy. The award is particularly significant for Unibet, coming less than 4 months after the successful launch of their standalone poker platform. The move saw Unibet break away from the Microgaming network in order to provide a more welcoming platform for new players to the game; so far the response from the poker community has been overwhelmingly positive.
Unibet’s Head of Poker, Martin Stalros: “A truly innovative poker software, with features like missions, the ability to change your identity and the blocking of tracking software, is something that we felt the poker world was missing. We are very happy with the way the poker community has responded and feel that the award is yet further confirmation that the industry is ready for a modern poker client.”
“The next step for us is to push on from here to challenge the existing online poker hierarchy. However, this project is still young and we are looking forward to driving innovation in poker for many years ahead.”
The EGR Awards is held annually, recognising and celebrating the most noteworthy eGaming providers of the past 12 months. The judging panel’s comments on Unibet’s achievements:
“Unibet’s move to launch a stand-alone platform with a large number of recreational-focused features and innovative loyalty programme gave them a clear winning proposition.”
“Unibet’s poker re-launch campaign moved away from clichéd poker imagery and presented the game as a fun, new experience with some impressive business results.”
